The next Ooni will not eat Sijuwade's heart - Ife Chief
The late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade
The Araba of Osogbo land, Chief Yemi Elebuibon has said the heart of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Siuwade would not be fed to the next Ooni. Elebuibon said, “The eating of the heart of a departed King by an incoming one belonged to the past. It no longer exists. He said people still make the insinuation because many are barred from witnessing the burial of a king.
He stated that the incoming king will eat the heart of an animal and not that of a human. He added that nobody would be buried with the Ooni nor would anybody be killed for any form of sacrifice
