Nigerians React To Buhari's 'Oil Comment'

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday blamed the past governments over their way of running the affairs in the oil industry and, in particular, recklessness of subsidy payments.

The Nigerian leader’s claim hit the headlines of national newspapers and media portals. Social media did not stay indifferent, either. This time there have been quite a lot of negative comments. Many expressed tiredness with Buhari’s rhetoric and non-stopping attacks at the previous administrations.

Nigerians urged President Buhari to start acting and fixing the situation instead. Some were pessimistic about the development alleging that Buhari is “confused” as he is “still complaining”.

See the outraged comments below:

Ifeanyi Bassey: “Buhari u r not different from d past leaders,u r as corrupt as they are,u only go against d ones that are not in support of ur leadership style,u r too tribal, start doing something reasonable,u will keep talking about probing d past government n ur 4 years will pass.”

Bright Johnbull: “2.8 billion dollars went missing from NNPC when auhari was petroleum minister. Oga PMB no be today these things start for NNPC and you know that. In any case fix it. That’s why you are there.”

Alor Saturday: “Mr. President work out something for Nigeria and stop shifting blame to somebody. Campaign period is gone this is the time for governance.”

Damilola Odunfa: “Yeah ……..even Obasanjo lamented too when he came back as a civilian president. The imaginable tenure for Buhari is 8yrs and the big question is what happens when Buhari must have finished his tenure and leave? It’s high time we focused more energy on building institutions/systems that are self sustaining. May God help us!”

Iheanyi Agbo: “Buhari you are the masses with hunger and here you are talking rubish.”

Lucky Christian: “Buhari if u dnt av anytin again to say u stay@home i’m feedup of this corupption tin u always say, wen u urself is already corrupt, tell us something else.”

Ofoegbu Charity: “Mr president, we need job nd not prob of government dat hv come nd pass.”

Augustine Noble Ikenna: “Our baby-president has started crying again ooo instead of moving the country forward…”

Auxel Celestyn: “Oga stop complaining dats why Nigerians voted you In. Fix it up or resign.”

However, there is another group, loyal to Buhari and his administration. They are sure that change takes time, especially after such a devastating long-term period of looting and bad governance.

See some of the supportive comments below:

Felix Benson: “The fear of Buhari is the begining of gud things, baba any body when no like you make them travel to ukrain or afganistan till 2019 bcos we don put u for there, nothing any body go fit do my presido.”

Abraham Folasade M Folahan: “Mr president u’re elected to restore back all our lost in Nigeria, may God help u & co workers aameen.”

Tension intensifies amid the political uncertainty associated with absence of ministerial appointments, highly anticipated from President Buhari.

Almost three months from the inauguration, the Nigerian leader has carried out major shake-up in the military and oil sector, but failed to introduce the cabinet. Many insist that effective people-oriented governance can start only with the announcement of the ministerial list.
