FEDERAL aviation authorities have started building a helipad in President Muhammadu Buhari's hometown of Daura

altFEDERAL aviation authorities have started building a helipad in President Muhammadu Buhari's hometown of Daura that will enable him fly directly there from Abuja and avoid the cumbersome journey through Katsina.

At the moment, whenever President Buhari wants to visit Daura, he flies to Katsina, the state capital and then drives overland to his country home. With the construction of the helipad, it will save President Buhari the hassle of embarking on a road journey from Katsina Airport as he will be able to fly in one of the presidential helicopters straight to Daura and by-pass Katsina Airport completely.

One presidency source said: “I can tell you that right now, they are building a helipad in Daura and when it is completed he doesn’t have to fly to Katsina Airport again. Helipad is a kind of landing for helicopters.

“The maximum number of functional planes we have right now is six and out of that six, there is a high usage for it. Consider that last week in one day, the president used one to Katsina, the vice president used the other one to Lagos and the senate president used the third one to meet President Olusegun Obasanjo at Abeokuta via Lagos and later to Ilorin, Kwara State."

President Buhari has directed that nine of the VIP transport aircraft in the presidential fleet should be sold as part of the federal government’s cost-saving measures. Although the presidency has since denied such directives but industry sources have confirmed that such plans are in the pipeline.

“On interrogation, Monday Pam owned up to the crime, and he will soon be charged to court alongside the woman.”
However, the suspect, Monday Pam said, “I warned the man to stay away from my girlfriend, but he would not listen. I warned him several times to leave my girlfriend for me, but he kept coming there. Old Age will Limit My Performance – PMB

President Muhammadu Buhari has admitted that his age would limit his performance as the President of Nigeria.

Come December 17, 2015, Buhari, who was a military governor at 33 and Head of State at the age of 40, will turn 73. He now says he would have loved being a President when he was at a younger age.

Speaking with Nigerians resident in South Africa on Monday after taking part in the 25th assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in Johannesburg, Mr. President said: “I wish I became Head of State when I was a governor, just a few years as a young man. Now at 72, there is a limit to what I can do.”

Despite his advancement in age however, Buhari gave assurance that his administration would make a difference. That what brought him to his current position was his love for the country. The President promised that his administration would “kill” corruption before it wrecks the nation.“Our government is determined to secure the country, manage the economy, create employment and fight corruption. Some articulate writers have said if we do not kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria. This APC administration intends to kill corruption in Nigeria. We will do our best, I assure you,” Buhari stated.

Senegalese spiritualists allegedly stops Buhari from moving into Aso Rock

The refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to move into the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, the official residence of Nigeria's president, has been traced to instructions given to the nation's number one man by some Senegalese Spiritualists.

According to reports carried in the Breaking Times, the Senegalese Marabouts had warned Buhari not to move into the Villa until they conduct the necessary 'spiritual cleansing' to make it safe for him and his family to move in but they have been unable to conduct the cleansing since the president has not been steady in the country since his electoral victory.
The report quoted a source in the presidency as saying:

"The Senegalese Marabouts engaged to carry out the cleansing of the Villa before Buhari moves in are yet to arrive. It is not immediately clear why they have not arrived. But I can authoritatively tell you that the President will move in to the Villa once the cleansing is done."

But the president's spokesperson, Garba Shehu has debunked the assertion, calling it a blatant lie. According to Shehu, the renovation work being carried out at the Villa is what is preventing the First Family from moving in.

"It’s a blatant lie. The Villa has been renovated and completed even before President Jonathan left office. So what is he saying? The Villa, without renovation is in good enough shape for any President to function. The renovation was only carried out as a routine requirement for the new President."
So what do we believe now?

Bukola Saraki Endorses David Mark To Spite APC

In a bid to frustrate the leadership of their party over their support for Senator Ahmed Lawan’s candidacy for the 8th session of the Nigerian senate, Senator Bukola Saraki and his supporters have devised a new plan.

Sahara Reporters reports that the senators have now decided to endorse ex-senate president, David Mark for a third term as the senate president.

Bukola Saraki Endorses David Mark To Spite APC

The disgruntled lawmakers allegedly reached an agreement with their Peoples Democratic Party counterparts where it was agreed that Mark will be their sole candidate for the election.

It was revealed that Mark himself had plans to retain his seat and so he reached out to the Saraki group where he offered them heads of juicy committees in the upper chamber as a reward for their imminent support for is aspiration.

Another source revealed that some PDP senators took advantage of the desperation of the contenders to demand outrageous sums of money in exchange for their votes.

Just four days ago, Mark had said PDP senators would not contest for presidency in the 8th Senate,  giving reasons for his stand, he said: the position was for the APC which he noted enjoys the majority in the Red Chamber.”

Reports had emanated earlier today that the Saraki camp has commenced a discreet plot to take out their rage on the leadership of the APC.

B-R-E-A-K-I-N-G News!!! NIGERIA'S JONATHAN FOR NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria has been recommended for the Nobel Peace Prize by a public policy organisation on African affairs, the Africa Political & Economic Strategic Center (AFRIPOL).
The organisation noted that the will of Alfred Nobel, the progenitor of Nobel Prize stated that Peace Prize be awarded to whoever "shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses".
Accordingly the organisation held that the 'peaceful way President Jonathan conceded to President-elect Buhari deserves the attention of Nobel Peace Prize committee. He may have not promoted “fraternity between nations” but he surely promotes fraternal peace among Nigerians by conceding power.'
The group maintained that the "concession speech by President Jonathan averted bloodshed, violence and imbroglio in the most populous country in Africa. This gesture by Jonathan [sic] buttressed to the whole world that Nigeria has joined the comity of civilized nations. Nigeria can be said to have shown great leadership in Africa and made Africans in general and Nigerians in particular to comprehend that transfer of power does not need to be violent but rather peaceful as heralded by the outgoing president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was ‘locked out’ of President Muhammadu Buhari’s meeting with the National Security Adviser on the orders of the President

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was ‘locked out’ of President Muhammadu Buhari’s meeting with the National Security Adviser on the orders of the President. Trent is reporting that a top Government source who pleaded anonymity disclosed on Wednesday that Vice-President Osinbajo was refused ‘security clearance’ to attend the meeting as a result of security concerns by the Commander-in-Chief allegedly over what he described as a “very sensitive meeting”.
According to the source, it was the thinking of the President that it was too early in the day to bring Vice-President Osinbajo into the President’s first security briefing.
The June 1 meeting with NSA Sambo Dasuki, which lasted for hours, was part of what sources called “debriefing process” and was done behind closed doors in the absence of the Vice-President.
Dasuki remained with the president till after 4pm when he left the Defence House, Daily Trust reports.

Buhari to head Petroleum Ministry as he seeks Senate’s approval to appoint 15 advisers

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate seeking approval to appoint 15 Special Advisers.
This came as indications emerged, yesterday, that the President is likely to head the Ministry of Petroleum Resources in the emerging cabinet, rather than trust anyone else with the source of most of Nigeria’s revenue, his associates said.
Buhari, in the letter which was his first to the Senate after his inauguration, explained that the request was in line with Section 151 (2-3) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
The letter, which was signed by Buhari and addressed to the Senate President, David Mark and read at the plenary, explained that the 15 Special Advisers would help him carry out his constitutional roles as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The letter stated: “Pursuant to the provision of Section 151 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) which confers on me to appoint Special Advisers to assist me in the performance of my functions.
“I write to request for your kind consideration and approval of the distinguished members of the Senate of the Federal Republic to appoint Fifteen (15) Advisers as prescribed in Section 151 (2-3) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).”
Senate congratulates Buhari, Osinbajo
Meanwhile, the Senate has congratulated President Buhari and the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for their inauguration, saying the Red Chamber will identify with their administration for the interest of the citizenry.
Commenting on the motion sponsored by the Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba and co-sponsored by other Senators, Senate President Mark also commended Nigerians for accepting the outcome of the general elections that ushered new leadership.
SENATE1Mark said: “If the followers didn’t accept (the results of the elections) the story would have been different today. For the first time in the history of this country, we discovered that the Presidential election is not before any tribunal.
“I think that is a milestone in our democratic process and we must acknowledge that it is a mark of statesmanship and a demonstration of the acceptance of the will of the people because election is not done by just one individual, election is done by all of us who are members of the various constituencies.
“It is not just enough to congratulate President Buhari, I think  we should also congratulate the former president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, who willingly conceded defeat and followed the announcement with a telephone call to President Buhari and also appealed to his members to accept that as the verdict from the people.
“But sometimes the followers go overboard either out of excitement or whatever reasons. I also ran into a group of hooligans when I was coming to the stadium and they damaged my windscreen.
“That certainly was not an act that was approved by anybody. I think with time we will improve and learn to understand that power can move from one political party to the other.”
On some of the Senators that have emerged as governors in their various states, Senator Mark said that instead of looking at the development as progress, in his view it was even going backward.
Backward movement
According to him, “For our colleagues who have gone to become governor, my position is different. I think going from the Senate to becoming a governor  is not a movement forward but a movement backward.
“Well, if you decide to move backward to sacrifice to work for your people, then we should also congratulate them. But I think from the Senate we should look upwards, but in spite of that, some of our colleagues have gone to the states to assist in bringing development to their states, so I congratulate them also.”
Senator Ita Enang said that the change in leadership from a ruling party to the opposition party was an indication that democracy has been consolidated in the country and that the people have confidence in the legislature.
Buhari to head Ministry of Petroleum
Meanwhile, according to one of Buhari’s long-standing associates who spoke on condition of anomymity, Nigeria’s oil sector is so dirty that nobody’s hands are clean enough to do the “surgical changes” needed. Another political associate said: “He will do it. It would be stupid to give that position to anyone else.”
According to the first source, Buhari has still not settled on his cabinet and has laughed off media speculation about figures he will appoint. Joking with friends as he read out a newspaper article that mentioned possible names: “They have picked my ministers for me. Have I even told you who I want?”
“It’s going to be a lean government, I doubt he’ll have 42 ministries like Jonathan but he must have at least 36 (for the number of states) as prescribed by the constitution, though it does not specify whether they have to be senior or junior,” an adviser in the ruling APC party told Reuters.
The new administration had not yet gone through reports on Jonathan’s handover notes on policy, the adviser said.
“There is a huge body of proposals being bandied around the place,” the advisor said, adding that Buhari plans to let the N60 billion a year amnesty programme end in December as scheduled to save money and it is unclear what he will fund in its place.
He has also made it clear that he wants to revamp Nigeria’s refining sector, which declined while the country became dependent on imports for fuel.
“He’s emotionally attached to the refineries because he built some of them. He wants them to start functioning again,” the APC source said.
